More than captivating scenery
In addition to the captivating scenery that lures thousands of visitors from home and abroad, there are many hidden charms of Guizhou that people might easily miss – the traditional festivals of the Miao and Dong ethnic groups, also add highlights to its tourism.
The traditional Chixin Festival is held annually by people of the Miao ethnic group to celebrate the harvest. On this day, people of the Miao ethnic group will wear unique outfits and dance.

Apart from the Chixin Festival, the Mihua Festival for Miao people in Guizhou Province's Qianxi County, which falls on the 16th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar each year and lasts for three days, is another famous traditional festival for the locals. Every year, the three-day event will bring back Miao people scattered across China for a family reunion.

It is not only regarded as a traditional festival to pray for good weather and an abundant harvest, but also a social occasion for young men and women of the Miao ethnic group to find a soulmate.
