Former Hong Kong SAR chief executive Tung Chee-hwa says he is saddened by the recent violence and believes the current educational system in secondary schools is partly to blame. Spokesperson of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Chinese State Council also says there are problems with the education system in Hong Kong. Analysts are expressing concern about the failure of the city's education system to develop an understanding of Chinese national identity. CGTN current affairs commentator Victor Gao said there is still a lot that needs to be done to make education in Hong Kong fair and accurate.
