The Chinese foreign ministry says Beijing will impose sanctions on U.S. companies involved in arms sales to Taiwan. This comes after the U.S. Department of Defense informed Congress that America is planning to sell Taiwan a total of 66 F-16 fighter jets and related equipment. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the U.S. arms sales to Taiwan violate international law and the one-China principle. The spokesperson said the U.S. must take the consequences if it decides to proceed with the sale.
