In the movie world throughout China, the hot topic is all about "Ne Zha". The Chinese animated film continued to lead the domestic box office on Tuesday, grossing a total of over 4.2 billion yuan, or nearly 600 million U.S. dollars, in 26 days since its debut. And now "Ne Zha" is ready to hit overseas cinemas.

With its mission to promote Chinese culture as well as delighting audiences abroad as it has done at home, the film will hit cinemas in Australia on Friday and in New Zealand on August 29. American film distributor Well Go USA has also confirmed that the highest-earning animated film ever in China will be released in North America, although a release date is yet to be announced.

Ne Zha is a beloved Chinese mythological figure. The film features a daring makeover of Ne Zha's traditional image and depicts him more as a mischievous boy than the heroic youngster shown in previous cinematic works.

As of now, Ne Zha has become the highest-grossing Asian animated film as well as the highest-grossing non-Hollywood animated film. So it's no surprise at all that its run in Chinese cinemas has now been extended to September 26 – so many more people will be able to enjoy the Ne Zha experience.
