Franck Ribery, legendary winger of Bundesliga's Bayern Munich joined Serie A's Fiorentina on a two-year contract, announced "The Lilieds" on Wednesday.

According to Daily Mail, Fiorentina will pay 36-year-old Ribery about 3.6 million pounds (about 4.4 million U.S. dollars) a year.

"I'm happy and happy. I'm here with the family. Come on! Let's do something all together. I've already talked a week with the people of Fiorentina, I talked to Luca Toni and he told me that Fiorentina is a great club and that the city is beautiful. I like the city and I already know Italian: It's not perfect but it's good. The fans? I expect great affection, for all," said Ribery in his first interview.

Ribery left Bayern Munich this summer, the club he played for in the past 12 seasons. In his total 422 appearances for the German club, Ribery scored 123 goals and 183 assists and won over 20 championships. His partnership with Arjen Robben made the world's best winger pair in the past decade.

Despite his age, Ribery could still contribute to his team. Last season, he played 25 games with Bundesliga, leaving with six goals and three assists. In the UEFA Champions League, the French winger made seven appearances and scored one goal.

This is why he though left the Allianz Arena, Ribery did not announce his retirement – he believes he can still secure a spot in the best football leagues. Having turned down offers from the Russian Premier League, the Major League Soccer and some rich Western Asian clubs, Ribery decided to make his debut in Italy with "The Purple One."

Fiorentina finished the 2018-19 Serie A season ranking No. 16 of all 20 clubs and by the way, they were only three points away from relegating to Serie B. Manager Vincenzo Montella could use some experienced veterans if he wants to lead the team out of their difficult situation. Fiorentina will start their new season playing against Napoli at home on Saturday.
