Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday called on relevant parties to uphold an objective and fair position on the situation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). 

The appeal was made during a trilateral foreign ministers' meeting in Beijing in response to questions from Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha. 

Wang said the essence of the SAR situation is foreign intervention. He stressed that Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs and the country accepts no interference by external forces. Wang said no responsible government or rule of law society will tolerate violence.
