Ho Iat Seng was elected the fifth-term chief executive-designate of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Sunday. According to the Basic Law of the Macao SAR, his election awaits the final confirmation of the Chinese central government. Speaking after the result was announced, Ho promised to uphold the "One Country, Two Systems" principle, which guides Macao's governance as a Chinese territory.
