Ho Iat Seng, the newly-elected chief executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), holds a press conference after the 400 members of the Chief Executive Election Committee cast their votes. Ho was accepted as the only candidate for the role on July 25 after securing a total of 379 signatures by the members of the committee. According to the Basic Law of the Macao SAR, the chief executive, with a five-year tenure per term, shall be elected by a 400-member election committee and appointed by the central government.
