U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to use the emergency authority granted by a federal law, the "Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977" to "order" American businesses to cut ties in China. The act grants the president powers to regulate America's international trade. And just yesterday, the White House said Trump's statement about having some regrets over his trade war against China was misunderstood as a softening of his position, and his only regret is "not raising the tariffs higher." So how likely is it that Trump will carry out his threat? Is he trying to make the situation worse? Earlier we spoke to our current affairs commentator Einar Tangen to get some analysis on this.
