An anti-government march in Hong Kong started at 2:30 pm on Sunday but then turned violent. The confrontation between protesters and the police is ongoing, as of 11:00 pm local time. According to local media, the clashes started after protesters deviated from the authorized route at around 3:30 pm. They removed roadside fences, set roadblocks, obstructed traffic, and attacked the police by throwing bricks and petrol bombs. Local media say protesters smashed street vendors and stores and destroyed the toll gates on the cross-sea tunnel. At least five policemen were sent to hospital due to protesters' attacks.
