The 2019 China Forest Tourism Festival is going to be held in Nantong City, east China's Jiangsu Province from October 18 to 20.

This festival's theme is "green hills and clear waters are gold and silver mountains,” a quote from President Xi Jinping. Nantong, located at the estuary of the Yangtze River, has been chosen as the host for its key role in Yangtze's environmental protection.

More than 20 events are scheduled for the three-day festival, such as exhibition classes, promotion events, and forums.

Organizers of the festival told CGTN that forest tourism is one of the three pillar industries of China's forestry and grassland. In the first half of 2019, more than 900 million tourists visited China's forest areas, 14 percent up year on year. Forest tourism helps rural area's self-revitalization and realize the poverty alleviation.

Meanwhile, the State Administration of Forestry and Grassland announced Thursday that the 2019 China Hefei Seedling and Flower Trade Fair will be held in Feixi County, Anhui Province, also in east China, from October 18 to 20.

The trade fair's theme is "green development." More than 1,000 flower producers from across China and from 10 other countries and regions are expected to participate.

Various discussions will be held during the fair, focusing on the opportunities brought by China’s rural revitalization strategy and the ways to further promote high-quality development of the seedling flower industry. There will be five sub-forums about woody oil, aquatic plants, and three-dimensional planting, according to the organizers.
