The little but courageous Astro Boy has just ended its Beijing tour as the exhibition "Astro Boy, Initial Fantasy on Artificial Intelligence" came to a close on Wednesday at the Guardian Art Center, drawing large crowds from across the country to re-visit the cartoon character that has fascinated generations of Chinese children since it was aired in the country in the 1980s. /CGTN Photo

Created by Japan's legendary cartoonist Osamu Tezuka, the manga and anime series that revolve around the story of the android character named Astro Boy became an astounding success since it was first published in Japan in the 1950s, and was later brought in to the Chinese market in 1979, where it was also met with nationwide popularity as the first imported cartoon series that was ever released in the country. /CGTN Photo

The exhibition featured a series of rarely seen original drawings of the beloved character by Osamu Tezuka, giving the visitors a sense of how the protagonist was eventually formed in Tezuka's mind before it was taken by many as human being's "initial fantasy" on artificial intelligence. /CGTN Photo

Also on display were some of the other iconic works by the renowned Japanese manga artist, including "Kimba the White Lion"(1950), "Princess Knight"(1953), "Black Jack"(1973) and "The Three-Eyed One"(1974). /CGTN Photo

The exhibition, which took many on a trip back in time as they left their thoughts and wishes on the message wall, is said to be a touring exhibition that's looking to bring back the memories of many others as it travels across China along with the story of the little boy in the red boots that never seem to fade with time. /CGTN Photo
