Close on the heels of China's women's team qualification earlier this week, the Chinese men's quadruple sculls team has booked a berth for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Chinese rowing team, comprised of Zhang Quan, Zang Ha, Yi Xudi, and Liu Dang, made the cut for the next year's Olympics after finishing third in the second semi-final of the Rowing World Championships and nabbed one of the six spots in the final in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria.
The Chinese rowers participated in five events on the fifth day of the competition but their best result came in the men's quadruple sculls. The PRC started the race in lane six, and soon found themselves overtaken by the Netherlands and Germany.
The two European teams eventually went on to claim the top two positions while China held off Norway for the third place and qualified for the final.
The Asian Olympic sports giants also became the country's second rowing team to secure a place at next year's Olympics in Japan.
The Chinese women’s team finished first in the quadruple sculls and became the first team to qualify for the next year’s Olympics.
