Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from September 2 to 4, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The visit comes at the invitation of DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, FM spokesperson Geng Shuang said.
During the visit, Wang will hold talks with his DPRK counterpart.
The spokesman also gave a statement on the Korean Peninsula's current situation.
"We hope that all parties take simultaneous steps in seeking effective ways to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and in developing a mechanism for peace. We also hope all parties can properly address each other's legitimate concerns."
China is ready to play a constructive role in this regard, Geng emphasized.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the DPRK.
Earlier, Wang had urged the two countries to further improve bilateral relations in the new era while meeting with visiting DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Ri Kil Song in Beijing.
