The new Beijing Daxing International Airport has completed a key check and a final review in its application for an operating license, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said Friday.

The airport has completed the general check before acceptance in the civil aviation professional engineering industry and the final review before being awarded a license, according to the CAAC.

Next, after all the problems found in the check and review have been rectified, and with the approval of the CAAC North China Regional Administration, the CAAC will award a license to Beijing Daxing International Airport.

The two key procedures are a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of airport engineering quality, construction scale, facility function, investment completion and operation preparation, according to the CAAC.

Located 46 kilometers south of downtown Beijing, the new airport will start operation in September. It is expected to handle 45 million passengers annually by 2021 and 72 million by 2025.
