The total merchandise export to Macao in July 2019 amounted to 1.04 billion patacas (about 128.73 million U.S. dollars), up by 13.6 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region's (SAR) statistic service said on Friday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed that the value of re-exports increased by 16.0 percent to 918 million patacas (about 114 million dollars). However, value of domestic exports declined by 1.7 percent to 124 million patacas (about 15 million dollars).
From January to July 2019, total value of merchandise export increased by 4.7 percent year-on-year to 7.44 billion patacas (about 920.90 million dollars), of which value of re-exports grew by 7.5 percent to 6.65 billion patacas (about 823.12 million dollars), but that of domestic exports declined by 14.1 percent to 798 million patacas (about 99 million dollars).
Analyzed by destination, merchandise export to Chinese mainland decreased by 21.7 percent year-on-year to 929 million patacas (about 115 million dollars) from January to July 2019, of which exports to the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta declined by 23.2 percent to 888 million patacas (about 110 million dollars).
Meanwhile, exports to Hong Kong SAR (4.89 billion patacas or 605.27 million dollars), the European Union (121 million patacas or 15 million dollars) and the United States (112 million patacas or 14 million dollars) grew by 10.4 percent, 0.2 percent and 31.7 percent respectively.
The DSEC report added that exports of textiles and garments totaled 553 million patacas (about 68 million dollars), up by 42.7 percent. Exports of non-textiles went up by 2.5 percent year-on-year to 6.89 billion patacas (about 852.83 million dollars).
