China claimed it's second gold in the 2019 Rowing World Championships after Chen Yunxia, Zhang Ling, Lyu Yang, and Cui Xiaotong won the women's quadruple sculls final on Saturday, in Linz Ottensheim, Austria.

The Chinese foursome had already secured a spot at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics earlier in this competition, so on this race, they could fully focus on paddling their way to a world title. 

The PRC grabbed a solid lead one-quarter of the way through the race, and continued to pull away before winning by nearly a full boat length over Poland and the Netherlands, crossing the line first in six minutes, 34.65 seconds. Poland edged a hard-fought second with 06:36.59, beating the Netherlands, who clocked a 06:36.62, by a slender margin.

The Chinese quartet will turn their attention to topping the podium at next year's Summer Games. They will be joined at Tokyo 2020 by compatriots Lin Xinyu and Ju Rui, who finished third behind Romania and Ireland in the women's pair B final. 

In the men's quadruple sculls, China's Yi Xudi, Zang Ha, Liu Dang, and Zhang Quan had already sealed an Olympic spot, before finishing sixth in the final, with the podium places going to the Netherlands, Poland, and Italy.

The 2019 World Rowing Championships will end on Sunday.
