The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government denounced the violent acts of radical protesters on Sunday at Hong Kong International Airport and Mass Transit Railway (MTR) stations.

A spokesperson for the HKSAR government said in a statement, issued late Sunday, that the SAR government strongly condemned the vandalism perpetrated by violent protesters, noting that their barbaric behavior showed complete disregard for the needs of the public and tourists.

The police will act decisively to protect the safety and rights of the general public, read the statement.

Since 1:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, a group of protesters started gathering around bus stops at the Terminal of Hong Kong International Airport. The train service was disrupted on the Airport Express due to trespassing and foreign objects were found on the track near the Airport Station.
