China's General Administration of Sports released an outline of plans to support the innovation and development of the sports industry on Monday.
The outline identifies the "three balls" – basketball, football and volleyball – as areas to focus development on.
Five years ago, a new football education system has been put into use to select the best football players from annual summer camp, and dedicated more than 200 million yuan (27.9 million U.S. dollars) in investment.
In Monday's conference, the authority stressed the importance of training young football players, and said the primary task is to lay a good foundation.
The authority also described the nation's sports industry as a sunrise industry and a green industry with strong development potential. From 2014 to 2017, the added value of Chinese sport industry has reached 24.6 percent, and it keeps growing in a high speed.
As evaluated, the sports industry will account for four percent of the total GDP in 2035, which could be a pillar in national economy.
