Yuen Long District Council on Tuesday passed a motion supporting the end to violence and restoration of peace, becoming the first institution to pass the motion among the 18 districts of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Hong Kong-based newspaper Wen Wei Po reported on Thursday.

The motion supports the police in stopping violence and ending chaos in accordance with the law, and calls on the HKSAR government to take immediate and effective measures to quell the unrest, restore social order and avoid public injury.
