The Hong Kong police on Friday denounced the violent acts of radical protesters that damaged public facilities. The authorities also warned against another protest at Hong Kong International Airport called for Saturday.
To date, 12 people, aged 17-35, have been detained over charges of illegal assembly, assaulting police officers, and possession of offensive weapons related to the chaos on August 13 at Hong Kong International Airport, a police officer said during the regular press briefing on Friday.
"The airport is a key infrastructure that we always take pride in," the spokesperson said in response to protesters promoting another protest at the airport to conduct the so-called "stress test."
"I am positive that Hong Kong residents do not wish to see history repeat itself. "

Back on August 13, the airport was paralyzed for two days in a roll as thousands of protesters flooded into the passenger terminal and staged a sit-in protest. It quickly turned confrontational and violent and protesters unlawfully blocked passengers from boarding their planes.
A gang of radical protesters even surrounded and harshly beat up two innocent visitors from the Chinese mainland. Paramedics were also blocked by protesters as they tried to approach the two injured visitors.
The spokesperson stressed that the police would fully support and provide all necessary assistance to the airport authority in enforcing the injunction order, as well as access control measures on Saturday.
"Please allow me to remind you all that the airport authority has obtained an injunction order from the court to restrain people from unlawfully obstructing or interfering with the proper use of the airport. Anyone in breach of the order is liable to Contempt of Court," he said, adding the injunction order also covers the roads connecting to the airport.

The officer added that on Thursday morning, a group of lawless protesters disrupted Mass Transit Railway facilities again, hanging miscellaneous items such as bicycles on the overhead power line to paralyze railway services. The police condemned such disruptive attempt which may cause the train derailment if it went unnoticed, posing a grave threat to public safety.
