The second of the Diamond League Finals in Brussels took place in the Belgian capital of Brussels, where two Chinese athletes made an appearance. Li Ling finished 10th in the women's pole vault with 4.63 meters, while Xie Wenjun came fifth in the men's 100 meters hurdles.

Earlier, Xie, starting in lane four, reached the Final in fifth place on the overall table.

However, the promising Chinese hurdler, who has the season best of 13.17 seconds, didn't perform well at the start. Subsequently, he fell behind and finished with the time of 13.49 seconds.

Spain's Orlando Ortega eventually claimed the title running 0.27 second faster than his Chinese rival.

Meanwhile, in the women's 100 meters, Britain's Asher Smith won her first Diamond League title when she held off Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to run a season best in 10.88 seconds. American sensation Noah Lyles continued with his stellar series of sprints as he won the men's 200 meters in 19.74 seconds, becoming the first man to better Usain Bolt's erstwhile record mark of 19.8 five times in one year.

The 22-year-old won last week's 100 title as he is gearing up to be crowned world champion for the first time later this month.
