Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on the country's 71st founding anniversary.

In his message, President Xi spoke highly of the DPRK's achievements in the past years under the leadership of the Workers' Party.

He believed the DPRK people, under the leadership of Kim, will continue to make new and great achievements.

The Chinese president also said he is willing to work with the DPRK leader to continue the traditional friendship between the two countries, promote greater development of friendly cooperation in the new era and benefit both countries and their peoples.

The message concluded with wishes for the DPRK's prosperity and its people's happiness.
