The Hong Kong police, Hospital Authority, and the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) held a media briefing Tuesday, condemning arbitrary spread of 'death' rumors on the internet.
Yu Hoi-kwan, senior Hong Kong superintendent for the Police Public Relations Branch, dismissed what she classified as rumors on the internet that claim a protester was beaten to death on August 31, noting no report of death or missing was made for that day.
"We strongly condemn the rumor-spreading act aimed at dividing society," Yu added.
