Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that Kazakhstan will strengthen cooperation with China in various fields during an interview with CCTV.

Tokayev will pay a state visit to China from September 10 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, which will be his first visit to China after being elected president of Kazakhstan earlier this year.

Tokayev stressed the importance in strengthening the China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership, adding that the two sides have already developed cooperation in various fields, such as new energy, culture and military technology.

The president noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Silk Road Economic Belt, part of the Belt and Road Initiative, at the Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan six years ago and Kazakhstan has taken the great opportunity to develop broader bilateral cooperation to benefit people of the two countries.

Kazakhstan will better align the its economic policy "Bright Road" with China's Belt and Road Initiative by developing international transport infrastructure, he added.

Tokayev also conveyed congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and hailed the great achievements of the country in the past 70 years.

During Tokayev's visit to China, President Xi will hold talks with the Kazakh president and attend a signing ceremony as well as welcoming banquet with him.
