Beijing's electric power grid load reached 203.3 million kilowatts on June 4, 2019. In theory, this means it can power 20 million air conditioners (at 1 kilowatt per hour) for one hour.

Hong Dapeng, a power line inspector, was sent around the city to verify the electrical network's stability. Many high voltage transformers are located in rural areas, so line inspectors have to be extra careful and work under the harsh sun when doing inspections. This is their story.
