The 4th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong runs from September 11 to 12 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Under the theme "Creating and Realising Opportunities," the two-day summit provides participants with a one-stop business platform through comprehensive programs.

This year's summit continues to explore the tremendous potential of the economies along the Belt and Road and display Hong Kong's unique role as a commercial hub for the initiative.

The two-day summit will deliver a series of thematic breakout forums on particular issues related to specific industries and markets, covering topics in financing, investment, legal issues, infrastructure, technology, as well as geopolitics, risk management, SMEs and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Chen Maobo earlier pointed out that Hong Kong is the preferred financing, professional services and risk management platform for the Belt and Road. In the past several years, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has actively promoted the participation of various sectors of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Chen said that the BRI involves a wide range of projects and Hong Kong's highly international, and flexible professional services provide a diverse and high-standard support service for these projects.

Co-organized by the HKSAR and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the summit brings together government officials and business leaders to exchange views on multilateral cooperation and explore new business opportunities arising from the BRI.

The 3rd Belt and Road Summit held last year attracted about 5,000 government officials and business leaders from 55 countries and regions. Over 230 investment projects were on offer, and over 520 one-to-one meetings were arranged for project owners.

This year marks the sixth anniversary of the proposal of the BRI. Its international influence has kept increasing since its proposal six years ago. The Belt, namely the Silk Road Economic Belt, was proposed in September 2013, and the Road, referring to the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, was proposed in October the same year.
