The 2019 U.S. Open that ended on September 8 became another opportunity for many players to raise their WTA rankings. For example, Bianca Andreescu, who defeated Serena Williams in Women's Singles' Final, leaped from No. 15 to No. 5 on the table.

The following are some of the players who made remarkable progress in their WTA rankings:

China's Wang Qiang rose six spots from No. 18 to No. 12, after making the quarterfinals. This is the highest ranking in her career so far. Before she was beaten by Williams at the U.S. Open, Wang had not lost a single game in her other four matches.

Poland's Magda Linette rose from No. 53 to No. 45 after defeating Astra Sharma in the first round. This is her first foray into the world's top 50.

Switzerland's Belinda Bencic rose from No. 12 to No. 10 after eliminating Naomi Osaka and Donna Vekic in the U.S. Open. She has not made top 10 since June 2016.

Fifteen-year-old Cori Gauff from the U.S. went from No. 140 to No. 106 thanks to two victories she claimed in the U.S. Open. Though she was defeated by Osaka in the Round of 32, Gauff is getting closer to making world's top 100.

Kristie Ahn, also from the U.S., made top 100 for the first time in her career, rising from No. 141 to No. 93. The 27-year-old wild card became one of the biggest dark horses by entering the Round of 16 after knocking out Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jelena Ostapenko.
