China's State Council Information Office released its latest list of achievements on standardization reform on Thursday.

China reviews standards at different levels including at the national, industrial, local and enterprise level. At present, China has 36,877 national standards, 62,262 industrial standards, 37,818 local standards, 9,790 group standards and 1.14 million self-declarations of enterprise standards. 

Standardization reform covers areas such as people's livelihood, science and technology, social governance and international trade.

In the field of international trade, China has vigorously promoted the adoption of international standards including machinery, chemical, lights and electronics industry. They've also helped formulate international standards, after submitting proposals in fields such as information technology and traditional Chinese medicine.

With the exception of international trade, Tian Shihong, the director of standardization administration, also says foreign-funded enterprises and foreign experts are welcomed to participate in China's standardization reform. 

"We should establish a high-level standardization mechanism for opening to the outside world and actively participate in international standardization activities. In the construction of the Belt and Road, we should strengthen cooperation and exchanges with relevant international standards organizations and national standards institutions," said Tian.

In addition, there are nearly 6,000 relevant standards in the field of consumption. More than 400 standards have been issued in the pension and logistics industries. China also formulated nearly 4,000 compulsory national standards in food consumption, production safety, environmental protection and engineering construction.

In order to promote economic transformation and upgrading, over 3,400 national agricultural standards and 4,500 national agricultural standardization demonstration zones have been built. More than 1,000 national standards for high-end equipment manufacturing industry have been issued. In addition, more than 5,000 national standards have been implemented to promote the high-quality development of service industry.

In the fields of Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence, China has promoted the development of more than 300 national standards, encouraging the transformation of a large number of scientific and technological achievements.

In terms of social governance, more than 500 national standardization pilot projects and over 1,100 standards have been carried out, which initially form a standard system for social management and public services with wide coverage and prominent emphasis.
