Xu Zhaolun, a Qing Dynasty poet, once climbed the Tongbo Mountain and wrote a poem: "The first peak in the southeast of the country, half-opened in the clouds." Therefore, Tongbo Mountain is also called "the first peak in the southeast."

From 884 AD to 1869, all types of human activities on a section of the mountain were banned by the imperial court. The ban called "no settlement, no movement, no reclamation, no hunting, no tree cutting-down," lasted for nearly one thousand years, earning a unique name for the mountain: "A Banned Mountain." It is for this reason that the biodiversity of the Tongbo Mountain remains well preserved. Danxia landform accounts for two-thirds of the maountain's total area of 300 square kilometers.

Baihua Rock, 60 meters tall with a cave area of about 2,500 square meters, looks like a giant petal from afar. It has the Guangfu Temple which was built during the Tang Dynasty and was founded by Jingkong Zen Master, an eminent monk. The temple was renovated during the Qing Dynasty. There are 24 immortal murals carved on the stone walls of the temple.
