“Alone I stand in the autumn cold, on the tip of Orange Island, the Xiangjiang River flowing northward…” that’s part of the beautiful poem by late Chinese leader Mao Zedong to eulogize Changsha, the capital city of central China’s Hunan Province, which is Mao’s hometown. Sitting along the river, a branch of the Yangtze River, Changsha city boasts a charming riverside landscape. And almost all must-visit landmarks, such as the Orange Island, the Yuelu Mountain, are within walking distance in the downtown area. If you visit the city on weekends, there's a high chance you can enjoy a visual feast of Xiangjiang River fireworks. Last but not least, you should not miss the spicy local snacks. So yummy! /VCG Photo
