United States President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that he would be willing to meet the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un to resume denuclearization talks at some point later this year.

Trump told reporters, "At some point, yes... Certainly, they want to meet, they'd like to meet. I think it's something that will happen and we'll see ... I think something can happen."

Trump's comments as he left the White House followed what the DPRK Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said that Pyongyang is willing to restart talks with the U.S. in late September.

The meeting could be held at a time and place agreed between both sides, Choe Son Hui said in a statement on Monday, carried by DPRK's KCNA news agency.

Trump and Kim have met three times since June 2018.
