In Tangjiahe Nature Reserve in southwest China's Sichuan Province, a Chinese peacock butterfly is visiting red spider lilies for nectar.
This species has a wide distribution in China, from northeastern Heilongjiang Province all the way to southeastern Taiwan region. It could be found in forests and other wooded areas, also in urban areas if host plants are available.
The Chinese peacock butterfly has a similar coloring as peacocks. The one in the video features glittering green, dark blue and black with reddish eyespots on the hindwings.
Check out the video to see how it flies lightly between the red spider lilies.
