Upgraded practical cooperation between China and Russia will be highly expected during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's trip to Russia, Turkey hosts a summit with Russia and Iran to discuss Syria's Idlib, world leaders go to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and U.S. President Donald Trump sets his second state dinner for Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Premier Li's Russia visit
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will pay an official visit to Russia September 16-18 at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced Monday.
During his visit, Li and Medvedev will hold the 24th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government.
A joint communique will be released after their talks in St. Petersburg, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said at a press briefing on Monday, adding that the Chinese premier will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
74th Session of UNGA
A total of 143 heads of state and government have been confirmed to speak at the forthcoming General Debate of the 74th session of UNGA, which will open on September 17.
The high-level General Debate will start on September 24 and will run until September 30.
During the week-long debate, other high-level events such as a climate summit will also be convened.
On September 18, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will hold a press conference ahead of the annual gathering.
Russia-Turkey-Iran summit
The leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran will discuss the situation in Syria's Idlib province when they meet on September 16 for a summit, Yuri Ushakov, a senior Kremlin aide, said on Friday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani are due to hold the talks in Ankara.
Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Tuesday that the three leaders would also discuss the creation of the Syrian constitutional committee.
Trump's 2nd state dinner
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison will be heading to the U.S. for an official visit where Trump will host him for a state dinner on September 20, the White House confirmed.
It will be the second state dinner hosted by Trump, with the previous one held in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron in April 2018.
"The visit will celebrate our two countries' close friendship and shared history, and reaffirm our common vision for global peace, security, and prosperity," said the White House.

Wednesday: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her partner visit Japan (to September 21), French President Emmanuel Macron travels to Rome to meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella and hold a working dinner with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres holds a news conference ahead of the annual gathering of world leaders.
Thursday: Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi pays an official visit to China (to September 23).
Friday: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison visits the U.S., Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri meets Macron in Paris.
Saturday: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the U.S. (to September 27).
Sunday: Erdogan visits New York for the UNGA and plans to hold talks with Trump on Syria and other issues including weapons purchases (to September 25), Macron hosts One Planet Summit in New York.
