Wang Yi to attend 74th UN general assembly

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will attend the annual General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) next Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Monday.

The 74th session of the UNGA will open from September 17 to 30. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be September 24.

According to Hua, as the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Wang will attend the Climate Summit, UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (SDG Summit) and other bilateral activities.

Wang is also expected to elaborate on the remarkable achievements China has made in the past seven decades since the founding of the People's Republic of China, China's foreign policy and its views on major international and regional issues, Hua added.

"Wang will express China's resolute determination to work with UN member states to maintain multilateralism, safeguard the UN's authority and role, and facilitate the communication and coordination with all the countries and international organizations," said Hua.
