At least 30 people were killed and many others wounded in an explosion north of the Afghan capital Kabul. The incident occurred ahead of presidential elections scheduled for next week. The blast struck near an election rally which President Ashraf Ghani was expected to address. His aide says Ghani was unhurt. A local government official said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. The Taliban group has claimed responsibility.
