British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has met with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to find a way towards a Brexit deal. London has described the meeting as "constructive", but the EU says Britain has not proposed any workable alternatives to the Northern Ireland "backstop" provisions of its Brexit agreement. Johnson says the UK will leave the EU on October 31, with or without a deal. But he insists he can strike a revised agreement with the bloc in time for an orderly departure.
