Some farmers in Panjin in Liaoning Province combine river crab cultivation and rice planting, since crabs feed on weeds and insects in the fields, and their excreta are natural fertilizer for rice. As the facilities and construction have improved, the hotel industry, rural tourism and other new industries in rural areas are also flourishing.
