Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) confirmed about 300 Chinese were arrested by the Immigration Bureau in the Philippines for suspected illegal employment in an online gambling company in the Philippines on Monday, Geng Shuang, spokesperson for the MOFA said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
He stressed that China has always required Chinese citizens in foreign countries to obey the local laws and regulations, handle legal residence and work procedures, and not participate in gambling or engage in gambling-related activities.
"The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines maintains close ties with the Philippine and demands that the Philippine government handle the law impartially, and protect the humanitarian treatment and legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese citizens involved", said Geng.
