Due to its unique terrains, Dingxi City of northwest China's Gansu Province has long been known for suffering from drought. Local farmers thus prefer such "hardy" crops like corn and potato that can survive the harsh climate. After decades of development, Dingxi is now known as the "land of potatoes," where every household grows the crop for a living. Potatoes have witnessed the change in local farmers' livelihood over the past 70 years.
