Since August 19, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have deleted thousands of accounts that were described as publishing Chinese state-backed and false information on Hong Kong issues.
Gillian Bolsover, a lecturer at the University of Leeds, holds a different opinion based on her research into Chinese social media posts in 2016.
