Team China captured their fifth win against Team Japan by 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-17) at the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Cup held in Yokohama, Japan, on Thursday.

Five Chinese players scored more than 10 points, with Zhang Changning topping the score board, hailing 19 in this game.

Across the net, Japan's Risa Shinnabe had the most points for their team with eight.

In post-game interviews, Chinese setter Ding Xia reflected that the team did well in blocking. "Our serving was fast, giving them (Team Japan) little time to create complex runs and powerful spikes, thus easing our pressure when blocking."

Team Japan made good use of side offenses and scored good ones during the first set. However, they struggled to maintain their own rhythm, and hesitated in the second set. Overall, Team Japan had good defense today.

The fact that Team China did not lose a single set in the first phase of the tournament secures them a top spot on the ranking of round robin for the moment. Next they will be playing against Brazil, while Japan will face the U.S.
