China has issued a white paper on the progress of women's causes. It consists of nine sections on issues like the development of women's political, economic and social status, legal rights, education, and health. The white paper says China has always attached great importance to promoting gender equality and the development of women's careers. It says legislation work of protecting women's rights has also been strengthened and that women's situation in China has made enormous overall progress during the past 70 years.
