Chinese athletes produced clean sweeps of all three gold medals in both men's 61kg division and women's 49kg class while setting multiple world records in the Weightlifting World Championships, held in Thailand.

Fujian native Li Fabin dominated men's 61kg division and broke two world records in snatch and total categories. Jiang Huihua topped 49kg both clean and jerk and total. 21-year-old Jiang Huihua set a world record total as compatriot Hou Zhihui won snatch.

In the snatch, Li set a world record of 145kg without any failures in his three attempts. Indonesian Eko Yuli Irawan, last year's world champion in this division, came second and Japan's Yoichi Itokazu took the bronze.

The clean and jerk was very close with silver going to Francisco Antonio Mosquera Valencia of Colombia with 172kg, while China's Qin Fulin won bronze with 171kg. Li successfully lifted 173 kilograms in his second attempt to claim the gold medal while also setting a world record total of 318kg. Irawan was second in the total with Mosquera Valencia in third.

The women's 49kg division was dominated by two Chinese who won gold and silver in both snatch and clean and jerk. In the snatch, Hou Zhihui came out on top with a good lift of 94kg in her second attempt, while Jiang Huihua finished in second place.

In the clean and jerk, both Hou and Jiang failed in their second attempts before finding success with their third. Jiang won the gold medal with 118kg while Hou finished second, one kilogram behind.

Both Hou and Jiang broke the world record total in the division, but it will be Jiang with her name in the record books as her 212kg total edged team-mate Hou by one kilogram. Ri Song Gum from the DPRK won the bronze in total with 204kg.
