Xi calls for fair probe into attacks on Saudi oil facilities

Chinese President Xi Jinping condemned the recent air strikes on Saudi Arabian oil facilities in a telephone conversation with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Friday, and called for a "comprehensive, objective and fair" investigation. 

"The attack has escalated tensions in the Gulf and sent shock waves through the global oil market," Xi said, and urged all sides to refrain from actions leading to further escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

He also hailed the well-rounded and fast development of bilateral ties in recent years, and said China appreciates Saudi's strong stance on the one-China principle and issues concerning China's core interests and major concerns. 

President Xi added that China firmly supports Saudi's efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, security and stability.

For his part, the Saudi king affirmed his country's unwavering support for the one-China policy and said Saudi attaches great importance to developing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
