The Buff-throated partridge or Tetraophasis szechenyii, is native to southwest China.

They usually live in the shrubs of Lapland azalea and boreal forests at about 4,000 meters above sea level.

They are good at running, but not at flying, reaching a maximum height of a few meters off the ground.

Indigenous species are indispensable for the biodiversity of the planet. Their habitat being restricted to a particular area, many of them have yet to be appreciated by the rest of the world.
