Chinese TV series "Ji Qing De Sui Yue," or "The Passionate Years," will premiere Monday night on CCTV-1. The show tells the story of scientists working on a landmark nuclear and space project shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The series was produced by China Media Group (CMG) to celebrate the upcoming 70th National Day.

It is co-directed by Bai Tao and Huang Nan, written by Huang Jiandong and starring Li Guangjie, Gao Lu and Li Jian. The story was inspired by the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" project which embodied China's resolution to develop an atomic bomb, intercontinental ballistic missiles and artificial satellites.

Most of the filming took place in the Gobi Desert and the surrounding area of Jiayuguan, the first frontier fortress at the western end of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall.

During the three months of filming, the actors fully understood the hardships and difficulties of researchers and security personnel, and that's the quality assurance of the show, local media reported.

It is reported that the TV series will also reveal for the first time many unknown details about the project.
