Xi demands hard work toward new era victory at exhibition marking 70th anniversary of PRC founding

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday demanded ceaseless efforts from the nation's citizens to secure a "great victory" of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in Beijing during a visit to an exhibition of achievements in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The grand exhibition, which opened Monday at the Beijing Exhibition Center, comprehensively reflects the great improvements in the country's economy and living conditions over the past 70 years.

It also records the continuous rise of China's international status and influence as well as the country's contribution to the cause of world peace and development.

Premier Li Keqiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
