Chinese President Xi Jinping offered congratulations to China Central Television (CCTV)'s new channel dedicated to agriculture, rural affairs, and farmers launched on Monday, urging it to disseminate the new look of agricultural stories in the new era.
Xi also extended greetings to farmers and people working in agriculture and rural areas as Monday marked the second Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.
The new channel should remain committed to major policies on issues of agriculture, rural affairs, and farmers under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi said, calling for more efforts to help achieve victory in the fight against poverty, promote rural reform and development.
As the first festival created by the country specifically for its farmers, Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival falls on the Autumnal Equinox each year.
Autumnal Equinox is one of the 24 solar terms of the Chinese calendar and usually falls between September 22 and 24, during the country's agricultural harvest season.
