The essence of the Chinese Dream is prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation and well-being of the people, according to a statement released after a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Tuesday. 

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting. CPC leaders discussed an outline on conducting patriotic education in the new era and a work regulation for Party schools. 

The meeting was held a week before China's National Day on October 1, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). 

Patriotism is the core of the spirit of the Chinese nation, the statement said, adding that the release of the outline on conducting patriotic education in the new era is important for promoting patriotism among the people and encouraging the entire nation to strive for the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. 

The statement called for efforts to make patriotism a "firm faith, spiritual force and voluntary action" of all Chinese people. 

The notion of the Chinese Dream was raised by Xi when visiting "The Road Toward Renewal" exhibition in Beijing on November 29, 2012.
